Obituary for Marjorie Haines

The passing of Marjorie “Marge” Joan Haines of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Harold Haines occurred on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 11, 1932 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Mullett) Purchase.

Marge graduated nursing school in 1953 and worked at the Saint John GeneralHospital as the nurse manager of maternity and paediatrics. She married Harold in July 1961 and they moved to Fredericton. Marge enjoyed playing 45’s with her friends at Woodbury Placeand was an avid reader. She was a passionate New England Patriots Football fan and especially enjoyed watching them win the Super Bowl this year in overtime. Marge was an adoring grandmother and took an active roll in her grandchildren's lives.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Joanne Glynn (Michael) of Durham Bridge, NB; son, Andrew Haines of Pickering, ON; grandchildren, Jessica Glynn, Mitchell Glynn, Alexander Haines and Aliyah Haines; several cousins; caregiver and friend of both Marge and Harold, Deanna Parrott.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William “Bill” Purchase.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11 am with Venerable John T. Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place in Forest HillCemetery at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made the Fredericton SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
