Obituary for Marjorie Butler-Gray

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Butler–Gray, wife of the late Bernard Butler–Gray which occurred on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was born on November 8, 1927, the daughter of the late Gladys (Hanson) and Floyd Jewett.

Marjorie was a lifetime member of the Cosmetology Association of NB. She was affiliated with the St. John’s Anglican Church and a faithful volunteer at the DECRH for 21 years, playing a keyboard in the chapel each Sunday morning; because she was gifted to play without notes, she often took requests for a favourite piece of music from the patients and family members who attended these services; this was such a blessing to so many during this time. She cherished her friends, and tried to keep in touch with them over the years, and this was attested to by the many cards she sent and received during her lifetime.

Marjorie is survived by her four grandchildren, Talia and James Butler–Gray of British Columbia, Suzanne Trenholm (Jason) of Oromocto, NB, Nicole Hohman (Sam) of Sandusky, OH; four great grandchildren and her special friends, Sabra and Richard Ward.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Michael and Patrick Butler–Gray, and her sister, Fern Mooers.

A Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Chapel on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 2 to 3 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3 pm with Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.

A special thank you to Dr. Varty, Dr. Gowan, the Palliative Care Nurses, the Extra Mural Nurses, and Emma Keats, caregiver and special friend, for their excellent care. Also, thank you to her friends and neighbours for their many acts of kindness over the years and especially her 21/2 year battle with leukemia.

For those who wish, donations can be made to the Chalmers Foundation (Chapel) or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
