Obituary for Mary Cecilia “Celia” Hachey

Mary Cecilia “Celia” Hachey, 90, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth (DeGrace) Comeau.

Celia was a seamstress who would often make her children their clothes, as well as her own. She was a very creative person, from hooking mats to making guitar cases and anything in between. Not a job would go by without her attempting to fix it. She was an active member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church and the CWL within the church, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Celia will be sadly missed by her children, Claire Hachey, Wanda Dickie (Bill), Father Arnie Hachey, Marlene (Michel) Caron (Moise Dumas), Judy Gallagher (Glenn), Anthony Hachey and Nancy Caissie (Maurice “Moe”); grandchildren, Michael Bryant, Trevor Bryant (Jenny), Vanessa Gallagher, Allison Gallagher (Jonathan), Kyle Dickie (Pam), Ashley Dickie, Tyler Caissie (Celena) and Melissa Caissie; great–grandchildren, Danica, Tatum and Reid Bryant, Evelyn and Carter Caissie; sisters, Helen Woods (late Danny), Agatha Woods (Ray) and Irene White (Alan), as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hampford Hachey (1996).

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Sharing of Memories and Vigil Prayers for Celia at 8:30 pm at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass to celebrate and honour Celia’s life will be held from St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church (340 Dominion St.) on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Celia’s son, Father Arnie Hachey presiding and Father Phil Mulligan, homilist. Reception in the Parish Hall following the Mass. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery later in the spring.

In memory of Celia, donations to the Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
