Obituary for Joseph Doucet

1926–2017
Fredericton – Joseph Vincent (Léo) Doucet, de Fredericton, est décédé à l'Hôpital Régional Red Deer à Red Deer, AB, le jeudi 13 avril 2017 à l'âge de 90 ans. Né à Dalhousie (N.–B.) le 24 mai 1926, il était fils de feu John et Eva (Arsenault) Doucet.

Léo laisse dans le deuil sa femme de 70 ans, Margaret Opal (Doucette), ses enfants, Lea–Anne (Robert), Barbara, Jeanette (Robert) et Daniel (Christine), 18 petits–enfants, 27 arrières–petits–enfants, ainsi que 3 arrière–arrière–petits–enfants. Il laisse également dans le deuil sa sœur, Aileen Allard, son frère Albert Doucet et beaucoup de nièces, neveux et cousins.

Outre ses parents, il était précédé à la tombe par un fils, Terrance "Terry" Doucet et un petit fils, Troy Duermeyer.

Leo a joint les forces armées en 1944 en tant qu’enfant soldat, pour ensuite avoir été transféré au Génie militaire canadien. Au cours de sa carrière, il a était stationné à Fredericton; Allemagne; Chilliwack, C.–B.; Québec, QC; Whitehorse, YK et London, ON. Au moment de sa retraite, Leo était le secrétaire de la Commission des relations de travail dans la fonction publique avec le gouvernement provincial. Leo avait de nombreux intérêts: la photographie, la radioamateur, les chevaux, les modèles d'avions, la science et la technologie, la généalogie familiale, la fabrication de bijoux, les poissons tropicaux, le jardinage de fleurs, la lecture et l'écriture. Il était aussi un membre de la Légion Royale Canadienne. Léo était un mari affectueux et généreux ainsi qu’un merveilleux père, grand–père, arrière–grand–père et ami de tous.

Fredericton – Joseph Vincent (Léo) Doucet, of Fredericton, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer, AB on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the age of 90. Born in Dalhousie, NB on May 24, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Eva (Arsenault) Doucet.

Leo is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Opal (Doucette); children, Lea–Anne (Robert), Barbara, Jeanette (Robert) and Daniel (Christine); 18 grandchildren; 27 great–grandchildren; 3 great–great–grandchildren; his sister, Aileen Allard; brother, Albert Doucet and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by one son, Terrance "Terry" Doucet and grandson, Troy Duermeyer.

He joined the Armed Forces in 1944 as a Boy Soldier, and later transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers. During his career, he was stationed in Fredericton; Germany; Chilliwack, BC; Quebec, QC; Whitehorse, YK and London, ON. Upon retirement, Leo was the Secretary of the Public Service Labour Relations Board with the Provincial Government. Leo had many interests: photography, ham radio, horses, model airplanes, science and technology, family genealogy, jewellery making, tropical fish, flower gardening, reading and writing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Leo was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great–grandfather and friend to all.
