Obituary for Ronald Gaudet

With heavy hearts, the family of Ron Gaudet announces his passing, which occurred at home on May 5th, 2017. Ron was born in Saint John on August 14th, 1939; a son of the late Joseph and Ina (Mason) Gaudet, and the loving husband of Margaret (Gillis) Gaudet.

Ron retired as a guard at the Saint John Correctional Centre, and then worked at the Salvation Army on St. James Street, until it closed. He enjoyed reading, building, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great–grandchildren. Ron was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, and loved Lebanese food, antique cars, and listening to old country music. Ron and his family spent many summers in Shediac, at Parlee Beach.

Along with his wife Margaret, Ron is survived by his children Dr. Michael (Ena), Michelle (Jeff), grandchildren Dylan (Chelsea), Caley (Ryan) and Maggie Hurley, Logan and Hannah Gaudet, step–grandchildren; Steven Wisted, Ryan Wisted (Jessica), great–grandchildren Mila, Liam, Riley, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ron is also survived by sisters–in–law Connie Gaudet, Shirley Mackin and Theresa Cummings, as well as brothers–in–law Doug Myers, and Paul Gillis (Denise), and his beloved cats Simon and Callie, along with the neighbourhood strays that he would feed.

In addition to his parents, Ron was pre–deceased by his brother Melvin Gaudet, and sister Joan Myers.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646–2424) with visiting on Monday from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m., from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.

For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John SPCA–Animal Rescue would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at:
