Obituary for Wayne McHarg

1942–2017
It is with profound sadness that the family of Wayne Douglas McHarg announce his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday May 7, 2017. He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on March 29, 1942.

Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his long–time partner Linda Walton, his children Sherri Elms, Darren McHarg (Sharla), Tracy Sanders (Rick), and Michael Walton (Miluska). Wayne will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jacob, Stephanie, Janna, Aidan, Ashley, Kayla, and Kristen as well as his brother Glendon McHarg, sisters Dawn Bailey and Bonita Delucry (William), and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents Glendon and Gertrude McHarg, his brother Terrence McHarg, his brother–in–law Donald Bailey, and his son–in–law Bradley Elms.

Wayne spent 26 years in management positions with Canex, most of which were spent in CFB Gagetown. He also served in CFB Borden ON, Halifax NS, and Petawawa ON. In 1990 he joined NB Power as a Logistics Analyst, retiring in 2005. Not one to sit about, Wayne filled his retirement with the things he loved most – puttering about the home he shared with Linda, serving on the Board of Directors of the Pioneer Cemetery Gardens, where he managed the accounting, the finances, as well as some of the sales and lastly, but most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.

There will be no visitation by request of the family. A memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may me made at www.oromoctofh.com.
