Obituary for Faith Steeves

1927 – 2017
Faith was a beauty. She grew up playing with her older sister Sylvia on beautiful Prince Edward Island beaches at St. Peters and Greenwich, a gift that contributed to her wholesome beauty. She left PEI with the plan to work her way across Canada to Vancouver. Her first stop was Moncton where she lived with her sister Sylvia. Her plans changed when she met Sylvia’s husband’s best friend, Gordon Steeves. Gordon and Faith were married August 21, 1948. Faith lived most of her life in Moncton, working first at Eatons in the office and then as a homemaker. On May 17, 2013 her family moved her to Vancouver Island where she could be cared for by her daughter.

Faith’s achievements are profound: her legacy of love and her steadfast faith in God. She loved her family with all her heart and she passed on her faith in God.

Faith died peacefully with her daughter by her side on May 17, 2017 at Woodgrove Manor, Nanaimo, British Columbia. She was 90 years old. Thank you to all those who showed compassion to her during her illness.

Faith was predeceased by her parents Harris and Nora (MacLean) Arnold, siblings Junior Blair, Ezra, Sylvia and Shirley, husband Gordon Steeves, special friend Emerson Estabrooks, grandsons Joshua and Jeremy, and parents–in–law Elbert and Lillian Steeves.

She is survived by sisters Joan and Olga, brother Harrison, children Kenneth of Riverview, Douglas (Melinda) of Upper Coverdale and Heather (Tim Lewis) of Nanaimo, and grandchildren Axel, Sarah, Thomas, and Peter Gordon, as well as nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours are Thursday, June 29 from 2–4 pm at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995). Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Faith’s life at a memorial service Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11 am at St. John’s United Church, 75 Alma Street. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be at Wesleyan Union Cemetery, Upper Coverdale.

Faith’s life was a blessing.
Thanks be to God.
