Obituary for Leta Ward

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Leta Ethel Ward on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at The Moncton Hospital with her family by her side at the age of 89. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Lily Belle (West) Hicks.

Leta was formerly employed with the T.Eaton Co. and Spencer’s Drug Store. She enjoyed knitting and puzzle books, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years David Ward, sons Wayne (Nicole), Stephen (Bertille) and Brian (Leslie). Loving grandmother to Noel (Stacey), Shawn (Allie), Ashley (JD Creighton) and Melanie (Jonathan Arseneault) and great–grandmother to Zoe, Cynthia, Hayden, Benjamin, Cameron, Korra, Connor, Mason and Emma.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Hardy, Lloyd and Cecil Hicks and sisters, Grace Cameron and Iona Milton. Leta was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

There will be no visitation hours or funeral service. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service to honour Leta’s life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road (858–1995) Moncton.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations in Leta’s memory can be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
