Obituary for Thérèse Gaudet

Thérèse Gertrude Gaudet, 94, of Memramcook passed away at the Foyer St–Thomas de la Vallée de Memramcook on November 25, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Moncton on January 4, 1923, she was the daughter of late Willie and Emma (Cormier) Belliveau.

She will be missed by her daughter Denise (Yvon) Léger of Memramcook and her son, Camille (Monique) Gaudet of Moncton, as well as by her four cherished grandchildren – Monique (Serge) Bourque, Natalie Léger, Julie (Mathieu) Gaudet–LaPlante and Marc (Pascale St–Amour) Gaudet – and her five great–grandchildren: Isabelle and Jasmine Bourque, Dominic LaPlante, Sophia Léger and Charlotte Gaudet. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother–in–law, Edmond Babineau, two sisters–in–law, Irène Boudreau and Marie–Rose Gaudet, and many nieces and nephews.

Thérèse devoted her life to serving and improving her community. She served on St–Joseph’s village council, first as a councilor from 1975 to 1980 and then as mayor, from 1980 to 1992. She was a member of numerous committees like the Board of directors of the Hôpital Dr G.–L. Dumont, les Dames d’Acadie, les Femmes Chrétiennes.

Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her dear husband, Bernard Gaudet, her two sisters (Anna and Marguerite), her five brothers (Léon, André, Valerie, Eugène and infant Hector), her daughter Paulette (late Jean–Paul) LeBlanc and a great–grandson – Devon.

Visitation will be at Dupuis Funeral Home in Memramcook on Friday, December 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. Funeral mass will be held at Memramcook’s Église St–Thomas on Saturday, December 2nd at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Handi–Bus Vallée de Memramcook, Foyer St–Thomas de la Vallée de Memramcook and CHU Dumont Foundation made in Thérèse’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
