Obituary for Maurice Hébert

Maurice Hébert, 69 of Shediac–Bridge, NB, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 4th after a brief and courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the son of the late Philip and Juliette (née Blacquière) Hébert.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Betty (Gallant) Hébert, his two wonderful daughters, Joceline (Bruno Cyr) and Nadine (Dale Melanson), as well as his four cherished grandchildren, Julien, Frédérike, Gabriel and Nikolas. He is also survived by his 5 siblings, Norma Taylor–Boudreau, Jean–Marc (Raymonde) Hébert, Anita Hébert (Joe), Lucille (Jean–Louis) Leblanc and Jean–Guy Hébert; his mother–in–law, Bertha (Clements) Gallant; his sister–in–law, Lorette Gallant (Azor Babineau); Brothers–in–law, Russell (Pauline) Gallant and Bobby Gallant; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Maurice was a prominent and well–respected business man in the community and throughout the Atlantic Provinces. A true visionary and leader by example, he was a self–taught man and life–long scholar. He will be fondly remembered by his loyal staff at Shoreline Fuels, Economy Fuels and Shoreline Lubricants.

Maurice was a devoted family man. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He could often be seen cheering them on at football, soccer and hockey games. He loved to travel with his wife and made many friends along the way. He particularly loved spending his winters in Florida. An adventurer at heart, Maurice was passionate about flying his airplane, camping, boating and four–wheeling. His yearly hunting trip with his childhood friend Gerry was especially important to him.

The family will be receiving condolences at Frenette Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 396 Main St., Shediac (532–3297). Visiting hours Thursday, December 7th from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St–Joseph Church in Shediac on December 8th at 11 a.m.

In memory of Maurice, a contribution to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Words of comfort and donations may be made at: www.frenettefuneralhome.com
