Obituary for Max Turnbull

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Max Stanley Turnbull on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years. Born and raised in Williamsburg, NB.

Max loved to fish, hunt, and cook. He learned his cooking skills from his dad. Max loved to cook for his family and friends. Max fought in the Korean War and had many stories to share of his time there, his family loved sitting down listening to them. He enjoyed playing chase the ace and 2000’s with his family. Max quickly became Grampy Max to many in the community and from all of the neighbourhood kids who loved him.

Max was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis; parents, Stanley and Sarah (Dorcas) Turnbull; brother, Bill; an infant sister; two sons, Larry and Terry; son-in-law, Brian Johnston.

He leaves behind five daughters, Debbie, Cathy (Vernon), Susan, Peggy (Terry) and Trudy (Arthur); two sons, Max and Ritchie; chosen son, Marty; his grandchildren, Trevor, Trudy, Misty, Phillip, Larry, Adam, Amanda, Terry, Melissa, Sarah, Carrie, Lacey, Nicole, Kyle and Brittany; 33 great-grandkids to whom he was known as Grampy T. and two great-great-grandkids.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2 pm with Pastor Pat McAloon officiating. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
