Obituary for Lester Woodworth

1929–2018
Lester Leigh Woodworth, 88, of Midway passed away suddenly on January 26th, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side. Lester was born in Albert County on June 30, 1929 the son of the late Stanley and Susan (White) Woodworth. He was also lovingly raised by his step–mother Gertrude.

Lester and his wife owned and operated Woodworth's Store in Hopewell Hill where Lester was Post Master for 51 years. He knew everyone in the community and surrounding areas. Lester was a hard worker and also worked in the woods, he operated his own porter and backhoe. He felt very blessed to be able to still live on his own and have his Independence. He was still driving his car to town and enjoyed having many conversations with people he met as he did his shopping. Lester was definitely one of a kind and when we think of him we will smile and remember his quick wit. May he rest in peace.

He will be missed by his boys, Arden Woodworth (Mary) , Aric Woodworth (Sherry) and Andrew Woodworth (Valerie) all of Hopewell Hill; his grandchildren, Loretta (Aaron), Luke (Jenny), Jacquelyn (Peter), Patrick (Brandy), Stephen (Alisha), Jonathan (Jossie) and Timothy (Abby); his great grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Grace, Emma, Sofie, Caleb and Easton; sister, Elsie Smith of Moncton. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, by all of his wife Shirley's family and extended family.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley (Betts) Woodworth in 2010, sister Welda, brother–in–law Warren, sister–in–law and her husband, Dorothy and Wes.

Honouring Lester's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Graveside Service will be held in Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB, in the spring. (Time and date will be announced at a later date).

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the Ambulance attendants, the Riverside–Albert Volunteer Fire Department and the staff at the Moncton Hospital Emergency Department for all the kindness, care and great support given.

For those who wish, donations to the Hopewell Cemetery, Riverside–Albert Volunteer Fire Department or charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H 3K2. 734–2780 www.albertcountyfh.com
