Obituary for Doris Elaine Gogan

The death of Doris Elaine Gogan, RN, of Salisbury, occurred at the Moncton Hospital on February 12, 2018. At her passing she was and had been surrounded by the love of her family. She had fought a battle with liver disease. Born in Moncton, August 21, 1963, she was the daughter of Marilyn (Robb) Duff (Doug) and the late Girvan W. Wheaton.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Ralph and Doris Robb, and Sid and Emma Wheaton.

Besides her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her spouse and love, Larry Grant, her son, and the light of her life, Brent, all of Salisbury. Survived also by her sisters, Debbie Carroll (Glenn) of Allison, and Lana, of Salisbury. Also survived by her step-brother, Kevin Duff (Trudy) of Westfield–Grandbay and step-sister Susan Atkinson (Wes) of Oxford, NS. Her love for her niece and nephew was evident, especially her bond with her niece, Katie O'Brien (Tyson) and baby Korra who put a smile on her face every time she saw them. Her special relationship with her nephew, Matthew Carroll (Leigh–Ellen) and their two children, Aurelia and Colwyn of Quispamsis.

Also survived by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins who added to her life from beginning to end and whom she never failed to love and enjoy. She is also survived by the father of her son, Gregory Gogan of Petitcodiac and his five children, Kim, Jesse, Zane, Jackie, and Crystal.

Elaine was employed by Horizon Health Care Services as a Registered Nurse until her illness and she looked forward to serving every day. Prior to becoming a nurse, Elaine worked at the Jordan Memorial Home where the spark was lit to enter nursing to help others.

In her spare time Elaine enjoyed camping at Mohawk Campground and the many trips she and Larry enjoyed before her illness. Her time spent with her son Brent, the light of her life, made her life complete and the time spent between a mother and son were special to her.

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372–4800) from where there will be visitation Wednesday, February 14th 6 to 9 p.m. and a Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday, at 11a.m., officiated by Pastor Rose Marie Holmes. Interment to take place at Wheaton Settlement Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials to the Liver Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. www.keirsteads.ca
