Obituary for Diane Orr

It is with heavy hearts the family of Diane Mary Orr, loving wife of James “Jim” Orr, announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on January 20, 1947 she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Edith M. (Lavigne) Durant.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Frederick Durant and sister Audrey Lennox.

Diane worked as a waitress at Sobeys in Dieppe for several years, and prior to that worked for several Tim Horton’s. She was also known as Lady Di. She enjoyed knitting, anything needlework, camping and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her loving husband of 32 years, Jim, she is survived by her children David Jarrell (Kristine), James Orr (Stephanie) and Trevor Orr (Lisa); grandson Christian Jarrell; brothers Donald Durant (Colleen), David Durant (Ann) and John Durant (Carol); sisters Theresa Smith, Elizabeth Bosco, Donna VanLeeuwen (Nick), Margaret Sceifers and Jean Donaldson; several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646–2424) on Thursday, February 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Friday, February 16 at 12:05 p.m. followed by a reception in the church hall.

Remembrances in memory of Diane may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
