Obituary for Léonide Johnson

(1931–2018)
RICHIBUCTO, NB – Léonide Johnson, 86, of Richibucto passed away on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Saint–Louis–de–Kent, he was the son of the late Philias Johnson and late Yvonne (Daigle) Johnson.

Before retiring, Leo was the owner of many restaurants. He was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #30, past president of the NB Command and a lifetime member of the Knights of Colombus. He also served In the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1984 and attained the rank of Master Warrant Officer.

Leo will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeannine (Gallant) Johnson of Richibucto; three daughters, Diane Johnson (Willie) of St. Charles, Joanne Johnson (Eric) of Fredericton, Debbie Mazerolle (Normand) of Richibucto; three sons, Phil (Heather) of Dartmouth, NS, Bernard (Karen) of Richibouctou–Village, Robert (Colleen) of Lower Sackville, NS; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Yolande Gallant (Philias) of Toronto, ON, Jacqueline Allard (Gilles) of Montreal, QC, Gisèle Poirier (Alfred) of Notre Dame, Thérèse Gallant (Valmond) of St. Ignace, Clara Martin (Gérard) of St. Louis; six brothers, Fred (Aggie) of St. Louis, Elide (Margaret) of Toronto, ON, Telex (Irene) of Connecticut, Alpha (Bonnie) of Toronto, ON, Michel (Albertine) of Moncton, Vincent (Julianna) of St. Louis and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Marie.

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Friday at 11:00 am until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm, St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in Richibucto.

Donations in Leo’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Moncton Hospital Neurological Intensive Care Unit, 4th floor for the excellent care they provided to Leo.
