Obituary for Isobel Agnew

It is with great sadness that the family of Isobel Agnew announces her passing, at home, on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the age of 91. Born in 1927 she was the daughter of the late Anna (Walter) Skinner and John R Skinner of River Hebert NS.

She is survived by her husband of close to 67 years, Eugene, and her four children; David Agnew (Karen) of Fredericton, Stephen Agnew (Cindy) of Quispamsis, John (Jack) Agnew (Kim) of Fredericton, and Elizabeth Jeffery (Terry) of Charlottetown; her seven grandchildren; James Agnew (Tiffany), Stephen Agnew (Bridget), Meghan Agnew (Dana), Luke Agnew (Holly), Rebecca Woods (Josh), Travis Jeffery (Nikki), and Kate Jeffery; four great-grandchildren; Braedon, Molly, Phoebe, and Candace. She is also survived by her sisters Jannet Wilson of Moncton, Kathryn McClure of Manotick, ON and her sister–in–Law Jean Price of Gallagher’s Ridge as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Marie Hunter.

Isobel was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her four children. Once they were older a long tradition of volunteering began. She received her 50–year pin from the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary. She had over 30 years with the Canadian Red Cross working many blood donor clinics and was a Life Member of the Canadian Order of Foresters organization.

Over the past number of years, she had a special bank account that was affectionately called her Grandma Account. She took great delight in financing many adventures for her children and her Grandchildren through this account and always had such a big heart. She along with Dad also made sure that there were numerous donations to the Karing Kitchen at St. Johns United Church, The Salvation Army and many other charities.

Summers spent at the cottage in Murray Corner were perhaps some of the most special times to her, spending lots of time with family and very special friends. There were many stories told, games of cards, Domino games and visits by many people.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 1177 Salisbury Road in Moncton 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. A Celebration of Isobel’s life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Fair Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Lung Association of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
