Obituary for Pauline Hopper

1936–2018
Pauline Roberta Hopper, 81, of Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough and formerly of Salem went to be with her Saviour on April 4th, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Pauline was born in Dawson Settlement on June 9, 1936 the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Mabel (Carpenter) Jonah.

Pauline attended teacher's college and started her career teaching at the old Riverview High School. After she married, she took time off to raise her family. She later returned to teaching at Hillsborough Elementary and Caledonia Regional High School. She retired from teaching in 1999.

Pauline's faith in God was the foundation of her life. She was a faithful and active member of the Salem Baptist Church. She hosted a women's Mary–Martha group for crafting and conversation until the last year of her life. She was active in many aspects of church life. Pauline enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, quilting, reading, and she was a keen scrabble player. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, baseball games, and became a skilled user of her Ipad, with the help of her grandchildren, in her later years. Pauline's love was practical and expansive, all friends were welcomed, fed, and made to feel at home. She will be remembered for her open hospitality, her beautiful smile, ability to listen and keep a confidence, and for always being there when she was needed.

Pauline loved her family and was never happier than when there was a noisy family gathering. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for each one of them.

She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Arnold Hopper; her cherished children, Lisa Steeves (Dan) of Sackville, Charlene Hopper (Stephen Gaudet) of Pointe Claire, QC, Darrin Hopper (Heather Gillis) of Barrie, ON; Heather Hopper Lean of Riverview and Heidi Smith (Ron) of Moncton; her treasured grandchildren, Alicia (Joel), Christiana, Andrew, Emily, Erin, Lauren, Gavin, Madeline, Paige, Faith, Garrett, Curtis, Duncan, Laurel, Ellyn and Aaron; sisters, Betty Dixon (Howard) of Riverview and Sandra Atkinson (Bill) of Riverview. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and by all the Hopper family and her extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her twin, and her sister Norma.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Fundy Royal Manor for their kindness and compassion.

The funeral service and Celebration of her life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at 2:00pm with Rev. Rick Thomas (a close family friend) officiating. Immediately following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for refreshments and sharing of memories at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shenstone Cemetery, Shenstone, NB at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Life Mission, Friends of The Moncton Hospital– Angel Fund, Harvest House, Pregnancy Resource Centre, or Salem Baptist Church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H 3K2 (506) 734–2780 www.albertcountyfh.com
