Obituary for Carl Bird

The passing of Carl Eugene Bird, husband of the late Olive (Jones) Bird, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Born in Upper Keswick, NB, on November 02, 1918, he was the son of the late Ernest and Rettie (Brewer) Bird.

Carl worked as a Window Installer with Rusco Windows, and was a WWII Veteran. He loved bowling, playing cribbage, and watching the Toronto Blue Jays – often with Norma Mason, with whom he had 14 years of “Everlasting Love” the song she always sang to him. Carl “Bub” loved his family and was always ready to pass along good advice to live by. He watched his granddaughter, Laurie Lynn and great grandchildren, Jody Carl and Leslie Dawn, grow into beautiful adults, and was so proud of their accomplishments. He lived a good life and is now with his Lord and Saviour.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Hawkins (Eddie) of Fredericton, NB; granddaughter, Laurie Boone (Tim) of Fredericton, NB; great grandchildren, Jody Boone (Laura) and Leslie Boone–Morrell (Jeffrey); half–sisters, Carlene Tranquilla of Fredericton, NB, and Gloria Dickinson (Bob) of Burlington, ON; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend Norma Mason.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. A Funeral Service will be held at Sunset Church on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11am with Rev. Joseph Beesley officiating and Rev. Greg Pyne assisting. Interment will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations in remembrance of Carl may be made to the Sunset Church or the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
