Obituary for Marion Lockhart

It is with great sadness that the family of Marion Judith “Judy” (McCormick) Lockhart, wife of Gary Lockhart, announces her peaceful passing on July 11, 2018 at Bobby’s Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on March 13, 1950 in Saint John, NB to the late Charles and Marion (Enslow) McCormick.

Judy graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1968 and then went to New Brunswick Teacher’s College where she graduated in 1970. That is where she met Gary, the love of her life. Judy was beautiful on the inside as well as the out; she was voted Miss Math and Science beauty queen in college. She went on to teach at Holy Trinity School and St. Rose for several years and later worked alongside her husband at the family business, Lockhart Saw Ltd until her retirement in 2016.

Judy was a devoted wife and mother to her loving family. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, curling and sailing up and down the Saint John River with Gary, on their boat, named “Hey Jude”. Judy was a long–time member of the Martinon Yacht Club and chairperson of the Environmental Committee. She enjoyed volunteering and giving her time for worthy causes. She spent many Friday afternoons at the Hospice Shoppe, making many friends along the way, participated in the Senior’s Income tax preparation program during tax season, sang in the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church choir where she attended mass regularly. To know Judy was to love Judy. She had a deep faith in the lord and was devoted to her church until her illness made it difficult to attend.

She is survived by her warriors: her husband Gary; children: Jocelyn & Rob Paterson, Jennifer & Marc Duplisea and Geoffrey & Lindsay Lockhart; grandchildren: Brad, Courtney, Emily, Ryan, Kate, Izzy, Cierra, Evan, Brendon and Griffin; great–grandchildren: Drew and Sam; brothers: Fr. Gerard McCormick of Ottawa; Ralph McCormick (Donna) of Five Fathom Hole; sister, Susan (James Miller) Saint John; Mother–in–law, Connie Lockhart of Saint John; brothers –in– law: David Hubbard (Joan) of New York and Jack Lockhart (Beverly); Sister– in–law, Wendy Norman (Stephen) both of Grand Bay.

In addition to her parents Judy was predeceased by siblings: William, Dave, Cecily and Michelle (Hubbard) and also by her nephews Kevin McCormick and Jonathan Rooney.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634–7425) with visiting on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2–4 and 6–8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July16, 2018 at 10:00 am from St. Matthew’s Church, 45 Dollard Drive, Saint John, NB. Interment to take place in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances and condolences can be placed to Bobby’s Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society NB or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be placed at www.brenansfh.com.
