Obituary for Reginald Steeves

Reginald A. Steeves, 87, of Riverview, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Elbert and Lillian (Wilson) Steeves.

A graduate of Moncton High School, Reg retired as Vice–President and General Parts Manager at Lounsbury Industrial Ltd., with 41 years of service. He served as acting company President at the end of his career.

Reg was very social and enjoyed interacting with people. He loved to travel and went on many cruises and bus trips. He spent 27 years in Florida enjoying the warm winters. He also enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Bermuda, London and Paris, and spending time at the trailer in Pointe du Chene. He was a lover of cars and RVs, having owned many of each over the years. His hobbies included golfing, snowmobiling and other outdoor sports. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church from 1961 – 2018 and was the Financial Secretary at the Church for 38 years.

Reg will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley (Solsman) Steeves of Riverview; son, Dan (Lisa) of Sackville; Shirley’s son, Rod Schofield of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Alicia Steeves (Joel), Christiana Steeves and Andrew Steeves (Felicia); sisters–in–law, Mae Steeves, Jean Tait, Joan Tait, Mona Clayton (Earl); brothers–in–law, Harrison Tait (Ann) and Bob Tait (Alta); as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members of the Steeves, Tait and Solsman families.

Reg was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Isabel (Tait) (1994); daughter, Colleen Steeves–Fisher (2015) (Brian); sister, Joan and brothers, Ivan and Gordon.

Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A service to celebrate and honour Reg’s life will be held at Riverview Baptist Church, 301 Philip Rd. Riverview, on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jonathan Gorham officiating. There will be a reception in the Church Hall following the service. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

In memory of Reg, donations to the Riverview Baptist Church, the Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society or a memorial of choice would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
