Obituary for Andrew "John" Banham

It is with deep sadness that the family of Andrew John Banham, loving husband of Jean (Black) Banham, announces his passing after a brave battle with cancer at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 9, 2018. John was born in Wolverhampton, UK on July 11, 1938, to the late Herbert and Clara (Fawcett) Banham.

John was a mechanical engineer, working for Irving Oil, retiring in 2000. He was a man who could fix anything. He was creative and good with his hands. John loved to fly fish and one year made his own cedar strip canoe to fish on the Miramichi. He was an avid curler and lawn bowler. John loved nature and lovingly tended to his vegetable gardens. He was funny and could make everyone laugh with his dry sense of humor. He liked brass band music; Jazz, his Black Lab dogs. He loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with his grandchildren. Taken far too soon, his family and friends will forever miss this man who meant so much.

In addition to his wife Jean, John is survived by his son Andrew Stuart (Sherry) of Edmonton, his daughters Angela Jane of Ontario and Morgan Elizabeth (Zakaria) of Quebec City, his three grandchildren; Colin, Erin and Lauren, great grandchildren, and his sisters; Margaret and Evelyn (Arthur).

John is predeceased by his parents.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424) where a Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2 to 4pm in the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Centre.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Salvation Army, or the organization of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.fundyfuneralhome.com.
