Obituary for Eldon Leslie

Eldon Leslie passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton at the age of 87. Born in Springhill, NS, he was the husband of Ida Stackhouse of Upper Kingsclear, NB.

Eldon was predeceased by his parents, John and Georgina (Woodworth) Leslie and by his brothers, Logan and Gerald.

Eldon owned Leslie Pontiac Buick in Campbellton and was also partnered with Lou Kiley Pontiac Buick in New Glasgow, NS. He made many good friends and even after he left the dealership business he would help people arrange deals to buy new cars.

Following his retirement Eldon took up sailing and used to race off Prince Edward Island. He was even lost at sea once as his boat sank while he was searching for the plane of a lost friend. He was also accomplished in amateur owner horse driving and formal driving and took his horse to multinationals.

Eldon will be remembered for his big heart and determination. Following a stroke 20 years ago he was told he would never walk again. He proved doctors wrong and until last year was still blowing snow, making hay, and driving around on his tractor in the fields with his beloved Jack Terrier, Peanut. He will be sadly missed by Ida and his circle of close friends.

There will be no services at Eldon’s request.
