Obituary for Lloyd Joe

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lloyd David Joe, on Saturday, October 6th, at his home in Guelph, ON. He was 65. Born in Boston, Mass. On November 11th, 1952, the son of the late Gabriel and Mary Ellen (Pierro) Joe.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish, Guelph.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marlene (Ferrigan) Joe; his two daughters, Jennifer and Sarah (Stephen); his brothers Robert (Linda) and Roderick of Eskasoni, NS, and John of Fredericton, NB: sister–in–law June (Smith) of Eskasoni, NS, and his nieces, nephews, many cousins and in–laws.

He was predeceased by three brothers: Richard, James, and Francis: and his godparents John D. and Annie Claire Googoo.

Lloyd's family was always the most important part of his life, he was always there for everyone. He even had a self–proclaimed adopted daughter Bernice Hopkins, whom he loved and cared for as if she was his own. Lloyd worked hard all his life; many jobs starting with raking blueberries in his teens. He later joined the Local 29 International brotherhood of Boilermakers, worked high steel construction, and many other steel related jobs in Canada and the U.S.A. He Retired from Hitachi LTD in Guelph, ON where he was a welder for 29 years. Lloyd's love, friendship, creativity and humour will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, ON, on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Rd, Guelph on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10 am. Cremation to follow.

Memorial Donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society Donation cards are available at the funeral home, (519–821–5077) or donations and condolences may be made at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
