Obituary for Arthur Wilkins

1917 – 2018
Arthur G. Wilkins, 101, of the Veterans Health Centre and formerly of Olympic Crescent, Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late George and Emily (East) Wilkins.

Arthur was a retired CN Machinist/Diesel Mechanic, with 42 years’ service and was a member of St. James Anglican Church. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served overseas in England, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium with the 6th Field Regiment, Canadian Army from 1942 – 1945. Arthur enjoyed trailering, gardening, golfing, watching hockey and baseball, reading, socializing with his friends and spending time with his family.

Arthur will be sadly missed by his sons, Gerald (Carol) of Dieppe and Brian (late Annette) of Moncton; grandchildren, Susan Joyce (Wally), Trent Wilkins, Darren Fraser (Dawn) and Debra MacDonald (John); great-grandchildren, Connor MacDonald, Samuel Wilkins, Lauren Wilkins, Graydon Fraser and Maddison Fraser; brother, Robert (Gwen) of Moncton and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Violet (Glencross) Wilkins (2000); daughter, Margaret Fraser (Neil) of Dieppe (2018); infant daughter, Diann (1948); sisters, Dorothy and Margaret and brothers, Kenneth and Donald.

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Service to celebrate and honour Arthur’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Wendy Amos–Binks officiating. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

In memory of Arthur, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
