Obituary for Claire Gogan

Claire Elizabeth Gogan, the youngest of fourteen children of Victor and Marie Badeau was born May 27, 1941. She died peacefully surrounded by friends and family on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief battle with Lymphoma.

She and her loving husband David started their lives together in Lancaster, had two children, Tony and Lisa, and lived in both Chapel Grove and in Randolph.

Claire had a long and wonderful career at Rocmaura Nursing Home where she loved her job, the residents and her coworkers.

She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Robert (Mimi), Emile (Annette), Rosaire (Armande), Leo (Theresa), Lionel (Germaine) and Roger (Louise) as well as her sisters Jean Theriault (Paul), Cecile Boyce (Ray), Denis McCarthy (Bob), and Louise Hebert (Frank), and is survived by her brother Real (Margaret) and her sisters Juliette Coholan (Donny) and Margaret Wallace (Joe), her children Tony (Kim) and Lisa (Chris Abric) and her grandchildren Liz, Thomas and Abby Gogan as well as Rachel and Andrew Leblanc.

Claire had close relationships with the children of her sister Cecile Boyce, who died young: Gerard, Tony, Chris and especially Joanne Carr, along with their spouses and children.

Quick to laugh and quick to tease or flirt, Claire was also quick to help when anyone needed her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The Gogan family would like to thank the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their excellent care and attention during her time of need.

Claire is resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John (634-7425) with visitation on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Spirit Parish (St. Rose – 541 Milford Rd.) on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to The New Brunswick Adoption Foundation. Online condolences can be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
