Obituary for Rev. Clair Mullen

Rev. Clair A. Mullen, of Fredericton, passed away after a short illness on January 08, 2019 at Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital with family by his side. Born July 29, 1926, in Boom Road, NB, he was the youngest son of the late David and Bella (Cain) Mullen.

Clair is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ursula (Collins) Mullen; his children Sherrill (John Hildebrand) of Fredericton, NB, Cynthia of Campbellton, NB, Karen (Brad) Kenyon of Winnipeg and Heather (Johann Griessler) of Bonn, Germany; grandchildren John Andrew and Taylor Hildebrand, Travis and Deven Mullen, Desirae Mannion, Katherine (Colin) Kovachik and Alexander Kenyon; brother John Edward Mullen of Grimsby, ON, sisters–in–law Jackie Mullin of Miramichi, NB and Marie Collins of Selkirk, MB; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clair was predeceased by his older brothers, Clarence and Merrill.

Clair was a minister with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, having graduated in 1950 from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College. He was ordained in 1953 and held credentials with the PAOC for over 65 years with pastorates in NS, NB and ON. He pioneered and built Evangel Assembly in Fredericton in 1964. With Clair's guidance, vision and skills as draftsman and carpenter, several more church buildings and parsonages were constructed during his years of service. In addition, he was the Eastern Canada representative for World Christian Ministries, travelling to Poland, the Eastern United States and the West Indies.

Clair was married to Ursula Collins 1955 in Campbellton, NB. As a team they shared the responsibilities of family and ministry. Clair and Ursula enjoyed travelling. The highlight of their travels was a trip to the World Conference of the PAOC in Jerusalem.

Clair's life was devoted to his calling, his wife and his family. A testament to his compassion and care is evident in the many people, young and old, who considered him a mentor, a friend and even their Dad. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorial service will take place at Evangel Pentecostal Assembly, 705 Maple Street, Fredericton on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Duane Collicott officiating. A short reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Clair Mullen Legacy Fund through Evangel Assembly or to the Boom Road Pentecostal Church Cemetery Fund. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.

Interment at Boom Road Pentecostal Cemetery, Boom Road, NB at a later date.
