Obituary for Florence Dunphy

Florence K. Dunphy, 96, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (McKibbon) Dunphy.

Florence was a retired school teacher, having taught in Moncton area schools with 35 years’ service. She was a graduate of Fredericton Normal School and attended St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church. Her hobbies included reading and playing bridge and in past years, bowling, golf and badminton.

Florence will be sadly missed by her sister, Patricia “Pat” Dunphy of Moncton and nephew Rick Dunphy (Sharon) of Moncton and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Laura, Marguerite, Jean and Bette and brothers’, Mark, Fred, Francis, Peter and Jack.

Funeral Mass to celebrate and honour Florence’s life will be held from St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Queen and Botsford Streets, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Charles Broderick presiding. Reception in the Church Hall following Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).

In memory of Florence, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital (JJ Dunphy Family Endowment) would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
