Obituary for Gwendolyn Abernethy

The passing of Gwendolyn Annie (Fraser) Abernethy formerly of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late William Arthur Buchanan Abernethy occurred on January 15, 2019 at the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview, NB. Born on October 30, 1919 in Nashwaak Bridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Winnifred (Dodds) Fraser.

Gwendolyn was a hairdresser. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Church; Pythian Sisters and the IODE. Gwendolyn enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge.

Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter, Bonita Madsen of Riverview, NB; grandchildren, Kerrie Dollemont (Shawn), Patrick Madsen (Karen), Chandra and Erin Madsen; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ashley, Hunter, Hayden, Azuri, Taylen and JonNaeya.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Leona Jones and Inez Woodworth; brothers, Merrile, Donald, and Neil Fraser; son-in-law, John Madsen.

A Graveside Service will take place at the Taymouth Community Cemetery, Taymouth, NB at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Taymouth Community Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice and would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
