Obituary for Margaret Bowness

Margaret G. Bowness, 96, of Moncton, wife of the late Robert “Bob” Bowness (June 2013), with loving members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Elmira (Copp) Alexander.

Margaret was a former employee of the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. (Wages) until its closure and retired from the Unemployment Insurance Commission. She was one of the original members of Mountain View United Church and a former long-time volunteer with The Moncton Hospital.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her children, Mary-Joan Sturgeon (Carvell) of Miramichi, Allan (Janice MacLeod), Nancy Caissie (late Georges), Drew and George (Cathy), all of Moncton; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Dunphy of Moncton and Beryl Costigan of Bampton, ON, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bob, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Anderson; brothers, Bruce and Kenneth Alexander; daughter-in-law, Susan and son-in-law, Georges Caissie.

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate and honour Margaret’s life will be held from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Debra Baker leading the service. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

In memory of Margaret, donations to Mountain View United Church or the Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
