Obituary for Bessie Barton

Bessie Pearl Barton, wife of the late Alexander Barton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 93. Bessie was born on March 2, 1925 daughter of the late Wesley and Maude (Nightingale) Barton.

She is survived by her daughters: Donna (Wayne) Kennedy; Dorothy (Terry) Taylor; Patricia Brogan and Shelley (R.J.) Barton; grandchildren – Patrick Brogan; Bailey (Gareth) Brogan; Ashley Brogan and great-grandchildren – Leah and Madelyn Brogan. Many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, Alexander; infant son, Jackie; brothers, Leslie; Harold; Sterling and Tommy Barton, sisters, Lula; Verna; Phyllis; Lillian and Mildred.

Family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The L.O.B.A. will hold a service on Tuesday at 1:45. A Celebration of Bessie’s life will be held from the Chipman Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Andrew Arden officiating. Interment will be made in the Lower Range Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.

We the family would like to thank the North Minto Residence for the caring and kindness they showed our Mom over the years. Also, to Extra Mural, Dr. J. Prendergast; Dr. Lacey Blyth; nurses and staff of 4NE & Palliative Care at the DECH.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lower Range Baptist Church or the charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
