Obituary for Ida Fairweather

The death of Ida Grace Fairweather of Cumberland Bay occurred at the W.G. Bishop Nursing Home on February 27, 2019. Born in Salmon Creek on January 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Russel and Matilda (Clark) Murray and wife of the late Waldo Fairweather who predeceased her in 2016.

Ida was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ida was predeceased by her husband, Waldo; two sisters, Muriel Sweeney and Masie Chase; step-brothers, Gordon and Willard Murray and by one infant brother.

She is survived by her two sons, Gregory (Sandra) and Kevin (Carla); grandson, Owen; granddaughters, Lindsay and Morgan, two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Ava; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ida was active in her community’s Seniors Club and was a former president of the Women’s Institute and worked in the General Store at Cumberland Bay with her husband before their retirement. She love to knit and read and enjoyed company for a good chat and cup of tea.

The Family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM. A Celebration of Ida’s life will be held from the Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Andrew Ardern officiating. Interment will take place in the Cumberland Bay United Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the the charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
