Obituary for Richard FitzGerald

FITZGERALD, RICHARD
The largely attended funeral service for Richard Joseph Fitzgerald was held from Fundy Funeral Home, to Our Lady of Assumption Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. The mass was celebrated by his twin brother Rev. William Fitzgerald C.S.s.R., concelebrated by Msgr. Brian Sheehan, Rev. Kenneth Weir, and Rev. Donald Savoie and assisted by both the altar servers, cousins; Kane and Gabe Desmond; and the altar servers of Our Lady of Assumption Parish. Music Ministry was Mary Ann O’Hara–Boyer, the Assumption Choir, David Mitchell, Anne Marie Creamer, Katie Creamer and Barry Snodgrass. Readings were proclaimed by Carl K. Collins and Mary Ann Kelly. Prayers of the faithful were read by Linda Pye. Honorary Pallbearers were Pat andMary Garey, Eunie McElwaine, Barry and Mary Roderick, David Flewelling, Barry Snodgrass, James Morris, Pat and Martha Barry and Peter and Nancy Yunker. Pallbearers were James Burnham, Timothy Desmond, John Desmond, GregCollins, Patrick Creamer and Robert Fitzgerald

Floral tributes received included one from Collins Tours as well as those from family and friends. Remembrances in memory of Joe were made to Romero House Soup Kitchen including one from Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers of Romero House; Staff of Best Buy; Bobby Hospice including one from Staff of the Pumpkin Patch; Canadian Cancer Society; Hestia House Inc.; Divine Mercy Catholic School; Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation including one from Dowd Roofing; Canadian Diabetes Association; Cathedral Restoration Fund; Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick; Saint John Ostomy Society; mass cards and sympathy cards

A reception was held following the mass at the Assumption Centre. A privatefamily interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supportedthem and for the many condolences they received. A special ‘Thank You’ to theStaff at the Saint John Regional Hospital and the 6 th floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
