Obituary for Hazel Spinney

It is with great sadness that the family of Hazel Margaret Spinney, beloved wife of the late Louis S. Spinney, announce her passing on March 13, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 4, 1922 in Boston, Mass, she was a daughter of the late George and Susan (Goodwin) Harris.

Hazel loved the social times with her friends at Hillcrest Village always ready for a party! She especially enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Most of all though she loved her family and adored her cherished grandchildren, great–grandchildren and great–great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Hazel is survived by her children, Janice Alward (Arnold), Angela Evans (Robert), Verna Livingston (Tom), John Spinney (Linda) and Valerie Traer (Ralph); sister, Lorraine; eleven grandchildren, many great–grandchildren as well as 5 great–great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was predeceased by her son, Louis; sisters, Una, Bertha and Gertrude; brothers, Ernest, George and Richard; and granddaughters, Cathy and Rhonda.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at 5CN of the Saint John Regional Hospital and also to Hazel’s special homecare worker, Alice Dunlap, for all the care and compassion shown to her. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Mana-wagonish Road, Saint John (634–7425) with visiting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 2PM – 8PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Interment to take place in Welsford Community Cemetery at a later date.
