Obituary for Constance Miller

It is with profound sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Constance “Connie” Allison (Kierstead) Miller, wife of the late Russell Miller, which occurred on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 29, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Bertha (Thorne) Kierstead. Connie lived most of her life in Rothesay, spending her early years in the North End of Saint John.

After graduation from Saint John High School, Connie worked as a legal secretary and then as a school secretary until her retirement. She was a member of St. David’s United Church and the Beaus and Belles Square Dancing Club. Over the years, Connie and Russell made many friends as they trailered at Sunrise Shores, Hilltop and Pirate Cove campgrounds. She also enjoyed gardening, singing, cooking, and bird watching.

Connie was the loving mother of Janet Miller (Brad Bustard) of Rothesay, Gordon Miller (Karen Stevenson) of Calgary; Cathy Martin (Jeff) of Fredericton, Suzanne Blackwell (Tom) of Halifax; brother, David Kierstead (Suzanne Sutton) of Saint John; grandchildren, David Miller (Sarah), Alison Wong (Mike), Alex Martin, Janice Young (Jackson); great granddaughter, Cynthia Miller; brother-in-law Ronald Miller, sister-in-law Marlene Miller, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert (Shirley) Kierstead and sisters, Norma Kierstead, Freda Kierstead and Rheta (Kierstead) (Frank) Appleby, brother-in-law Arnold Miller and sister-in-law Dot Miller.

We extend our thanks to the dedicated medical team at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed directly by the funeral service and a brief reception. Interment will take place at Spruce Hill Cemetery in Bayswater, N.B.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.brenansfh.com.
