Obituary for Colin McLeod

1936-2019
Colin Chester McLeod passed away peacefully at the George Dumont Hospital on April 14th.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret (Tilley), his parents Beverly and Isabel (Wry), and dear brother Bill.

He will be terribly missed by children Mark (Dawn-Marie), Leslie (Greg), Mary (Sheldon), Colin (Janet), and Stacy (Troy) and grandchildren Justin, Laura, Mackenzie, Brett, Garrett, Christy, Hannah, Louisa, Joel, Adam, Jacob and Cole; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Maxwell; dear sisters Betty Lou and Beverly and sister-in-law Judy; many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends the Tweedies, Ed, Annette and Jillian.

Colin worked for 42 years with NBTel, until he retired at 58, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was an active and involved parishioner of St George’s Anglican church, serving several terms as church warden, and often volunteering his time to help with pancake suppers, church bazaars, or to offer his handyman skills. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing with “the boys”, and spending time at Walton’s beach with his family.

Special thanks to the staff at the Faubourg Mascaret and the palliative care unit staff at the George Dumont hospital for their care and compassion. Tremendous gratitude to Father Chris VanBuskirk for his unmeasurable devotion and support of Colin and his family over the years.

Visitation and funeral service will both be held at St George’s Anglican church on Wednesday, April 17th (2 to 5) and funeral service on April 18th at 1pm. Arrangements in care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to St. Georges Anglican Church. Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
