Obituary for Byron Stephens

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Byron Lewis Stephens. Byron died at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, April 22nd, 2019, with his loving wife Shelley by his side. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Lewis and Dorothy (Burns) Stephens.

Byron worked as a machinist by trade with L&A Metalworks for over 40 years. He was a dedicated employee and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Survived by his wife, Shelley (Budovitch) Stephens; one son, Josh Stephens of Fredericton; sister, Joyce Arbeau (Bev) of Miramichi, NB; three brothers, Trent Stephens (Stella) of Blackville, NB, Peter Stephens (Gayle) of Miramichi, NB, and Colin Stephens (Jaclyn) of Quispamsis, NB; brother-in-law, Brian Perkins (Carla) of St. Andrews, NB; sister-in- law, Rhoda (Bud) of Moncton, NB; brothers-in-law, Louis Budovitch (Phyllis), Ed Budovitch (Sandra) and Jake Budovitch, all of Fredericton; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Lewis and Dorothy, Byron was predeceased by his sister, Sheena.

The Stephens family wishes to extend their appreciation to the emergency personnel, paramedics, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, 3SW, and the Intensive Care Unit for the wonderful care they gave Byron. Special thank you to Dr. Aslam and Dr. Pulchan. Thanks also to Rabbi Goldman and the many friends who spent time with us. You will never be forgotten.

There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held from the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Rabbi Yosef Goldman officiating. Interment and Shiva will be at a later date.

For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Sgoolai Israel Synagogue, Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.mcadamsfh.com.
