Obituary for Kenneth Earle Dyment

Peacefully at Summerset Manor on Sunday, April 21st, 2019 at the age of 96, Kenneth Earle Dyment, formerly of Wilmot Valley. Earle was born in Northam, PEI, the eldest son of Edward and Bertha (Birch) Dyment.

While working for the Island Telephone Company, he met Wanda Mann, an outgoing smart woman who shared his belief in the value of hard work and service to their community. After their marriage, they moved to Moncton where they raised two children, Ken and Jane. After a successful career with Willett Fruit Company, Earle and Wanda returned to the Island in 1972. Earle began his second career with Imperial Life, where he became one of their highest ranking agents, and with Wanda operated a Bed and Breakfast in their home on the Blue Shank Road where they entertained guests from around the world for many years.

Earle was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Wanda; his parents, his brother Royden and sister Florence (Eldred Simmons); brothers-in-law Kenneth Clark, Malcolm Milton, Ellsworth Mann, Joseph Harding and Eldred Simmons; sisters-in-law Edna Harding and Marjorie Milton.

He is survived by his son Kenneth (Kumi), Saitama City, Japan and daughter Jane (Mark Saaltink), Ottawa; grandchildren Sarah Carson and Hannah Dupuis, Alberta; Philip and Rebecca Saaltink, Ottawa; Stephen, James and Katherine Kuwabara-Dyment, Saitama City; and 5 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jack and Sam Carson and Abigail and Ireland Dupuis; sister-in-law Pearle Clark, Stratford, sister-in-law Doris Mann, Summerside and brother-in-law Thane Mann (Shirleen), Kensington.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, April 25th, 2019 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in the Margate United Church Cemetery, Margate at a later date.

Memorial donations in Earle’s memory to the Bedeque United Church would be greatly appreciated.
