Obituary for Rodney Hopey

Rodney Douglas Hopey passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2019. He was born on July 24, 1960 to Norveline and Percy Hopey.

Rod worked at Saint John Shipbuilding and then moved to Western Canada working for various companies. He returned to St. Martins in 2017 to help take care of his mother, while enjoying the outdoors on his side by side with his lifelong best friend Ron Sherwood.

Rodney is survived by his daughter Charlotte Stevenson (Tristen), Charlotte’s mother Wendi Hopey, his mother Norveline, sister Kim Robinson (Alan), nephews Scott (Rose) and Derek (Jacqueline) Robinson, and their children. He also leaves behind aunts and many cousins.

The funeral service will be held at the St. Martins Baptist Church, Main Street, St. Martins on Tuesday, May 14th at 2:00 p.m., and the family would like everyone to join them for a Celebration of Life reception immediately following the service. Interment will take place in the St. Martins Community Cemetery.

“Happy fishing, Seymour”

In lieu of flowers, reach out and do something kind for someone in Rod’s memory.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424).
