Obituary for Carmel Hallihan

The death of Carmel Mary (Manderville) Hallihan wife of Thomas Hallihan of Pinevile, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the age 61. Born in Miramichi, NB, Carmel was the daughter of the late William and Stella (Bouchard) Manderville.

Carmel was a homemaker, cook, store clerk and bus driver and also vice president of the Renous Recreation Center and member of St. Bridget’s Church Choir. Carmel was also known for her deliciously prepared home cooked meals for many events at the Renous Recreation Center.

Carmel is survived by three sons: Jeremy (Shana) of Parker Ridge, NB, Danny (Kelly) of Renous, NB and Tommy (Sara) of Miramichi, NB; four sisters: Leola Mahoney, Wilma Sturgeon, Gail Robichaud (Eddie) and Donna Sturgeon (Kevin) all of Renous, NB; one brother: Billy Manderville (Liz) of Blackville, NB; her beloved grandchildren: Jarrod, Kyah, Addison, Kale, Nick, Nate and Henry and several nieces and nephews.

Carmel is predeceased by one sister: Marg.

Visitation was held at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Renous, NB on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 AM from St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Renous with Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Music was by organist Nancy Donovan accompanied by St. Bridget’s Choir. Readers were Tammy Hamilton and Zachary Hallihan. Active Pallbearers were: Stanson Donovan, Jamie Duffy, Danny Sutherland, Danny, MacVicar, Kirk Curtis and Rheal Barrieau. The Honorary Pallbearers were Carmel’s fellow card players. Burial followed in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Renous, NB.
