Obituary for Valerie Calder

1925 – 2019
Jean passed peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the age of 93.

Loving wife of Hugh Calder for 59 years. Devoted mother of Hugh (Sandra), Lowell (Kathleen), David (Arlene), Brian (Christine), and Heather (Hal). Cherished grandmother of Lisa (Peter), Susan (Michael), Jennifer (Michael), Lesley (Scott), Shawn (Nicole), Scott (Joanne), Jared (Aleigha), Aynsley (John), Lindsey, Jessica and Alexander (Carrie). Great–grandmother to 20. Predeceased by brothers Vernon (Ethel), George (Muriel), sister Albina (Gerwin), and beloved grandson Bradley. Jean will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank her care givers Erin, Sultana and Archana. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for taking such good care of her.

Jean was a strong willed matriarch of five children, 12 grandchildren and 20 great–grandchildren. Her quick wit and determination will live on through those who survive her.

Friends may pay respects at Kelly Funeral Home – Kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Rd. Kanata ON K2M 1H4, 613–591–6580, Saturday, May 18, 2019 after 10:30 am. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jean’s life will take place in the Chapel at 12 noon. Interment will take place in New Brunswick at a later date. Condolences and Sharing Memories at www.kellyfh.ca
