Obituary for William Shannon

It is with heavy hearts the family of William “Bill” J. Shannon announces his passing on Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home in St. Martins. Born November 8, 1946 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Mark and Evelyn (Madore) Shannon.

Bill will be deeply missed by his daughters Catherine Breault (David) of St. Stephen and Denise Shannon of Bradford, Vermont; his grandchildren Alex, Casey, Tamara and Gillian; his sisters Marie Kindred, Mary Richard, Cathy Gilchrist (Hal) and Susan Proctor (John); his brothers Pat (Shirley) and Mark (Karen) Shannon and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by his daughter Tammy and his sisters Carole Bennett and Elaine Hall.

Bill was a construction millwright and industrial mechanic for over 40 years with Local 2262. He was an avid outdoorsman and was known to appreciate muscle cars, hot rods and old trucks. He was quick to tease and remembered every person he ever met; readily striking up conversation with friends and acquaintances wherever he went.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. where a visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday May 21, 2019 from 11 to 12 Noon at St. Williams Catholic Church in St. Martins. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 1p.m. Immediately following the service the family invites you to join them for a reception in the church basement. Private interment will take place in St. Williams Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank Bill’s friends and neighbours in St. Martins as well as the nurses and staff of Kennebecasis Extra Mural and Horizon Palliative Care team for the support, kindness and compassion. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
