Obituary for Ruth Drost

Ruth Evelyn Drost went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital peaceably and surrounded by love. Born in Euphemia Township, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Dorothy (Marcus) McNeill and the wife of the late Rev. William “Bill” Ford Drost.
While attending Bible School Ruth met Bill who at the time was serving his country during WWII. While overseas Bill felt called to be a missionary in Columbia. Meanwhile, Ruth was attending Bible School in Canada felt called to dedicate her life to fulltime mission work. During their 30 years of marriage they served as missionaries in Columbia, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru and Spain. After Bill passed away, Ruth faithfully and lovingly continued her missionary work for another 20 plus years in Málaga, Spain.
She is survived by four sons, Gerald Drost (Dawn) of Fredericton, Thomas Wynn Drost (late Wanda Mean) of Mexico, Timothy Wayne Drost (Dita) of Kelowna, BC and Verner Drost (Betty Anne) of Fredericton. NB;
grandchildren, Andrew Drost (late Pamela Ferris), David Drost (Jamie), Renee Austin (Ron), Ester Ellis (Josh), Steven Drost (Danita), Daniel Drost, (Hollie), Mark Drost (Evie), William Drost (Cintia), Julie Thibodeau (Mickey), David Drost, Johnn Drost, Jonathan Drost and Christina Drost,
great grandchildren, Jordon Drost, Joel Drost, Makaela Drost, Makenzie Drost, Chantelle Austin, Marcus Austin, Zackery Ellis, Elyssa Ellis, Zander Ellis, Rachael Drost, Sarah Drost, Caleb Drost, Leah Drost, Katlyn Drost, Daniel Drost, Alena Drost, David Drost, Wanda Drost, Ethan Drost, Taylor Drost, Morgan Thibodeau, Maranda Thibodeau, Madison Thibodeau, Autum Doucette-Drost and one great great grandchild, Olivia.
Visitation will be at Smythe Street Church, 913 Smythe Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 from 6-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be at Smythe Street Church on Thursday, May 23rd, at 11:00 am. Rev. Joe Beesley will be the guest speaker. Interment will be in the Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the “Drost Mission Fund” (through Smythe Street Church). All funds will go towards the work in Spain.
