It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Jean Tays, age 75, announces her passing which occurred on Monday, May 20, 2019. Barb passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her husband and children. Born in Bloomfield, NB, on March 16, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Elmer.

Barb lived for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending the summers camping and biking with all of her family and friends. Barb and Clifford were proud members of the roadhammers biking club and enjoyed every ride they took together. She could often be found in the kitchen, as she thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones. One of her favorite pastimes was gathering with family and friends to play radio bingo. She loved country music, especially George Canyon, and would go with her husband to many bluegrass festivals.

Barb is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Clifford Tays; daughters: Betty Bustin (Donnie) of Penobsquis, NB, Connie Roy (Laurie) of Saint John, NB, and Terry Lewis (Robert) of Saint John, NB; son James “Jim” Tays (Bonnie Lynn) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB; grandchildren: Christa, Ryan, Nick, Cody, Cassie, Matt, Jillian, Collin and Dallas; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Joyce Mitchell, Bonnie Marchbank (Curtis), and Diane Chase; brother Steven Chase (Sharon); sisters–in–law: Donna Chase and Heather Chase; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Barb was predeceased by her brothers: Vernon, Ralph, Karl, Richard, Ernie and Mike Chase; brother–in–law Harry Mitchell; daughter–in–law Cathie Tays; and nephew Joseph Marchbank.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506–832–5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11:00am from Reid’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Big Rock Cemetery, Bloomfield, NB.
