Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Barker

The passing of Mary “Betty” Elizabeth Barker of Charters Settlement NB occurred at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, on Thursday, May 30th, 2019. She was 83. Born in Tay Falls NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Letisha (Wilkins) Plume.

A homemaker and United by faith, Mary enjoyed knitting, quilting and gardening and was an active member of the Fredericton and Botanical Garden Clubs, Lions Club in New Maryland as well as numerous charitable organizations over the years.

Survived by two sons; Christopher Glen Barker of Vermont and Dean Albert Barker of Charters Settlement, one daughter Deborah Anne Barker (Terry), two brothers Jack Plume (Marion) of Cardigan NB, Sam Plume (Carol) of Oshawa Ontario, grandchildren; Daniel Cannon, Galvin Barker and Shyanne Chorny all of Edmonton, as well as three great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Glenwood in 2011, a brother Lloyd Plume, and an infant sister when she was very young.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 6 to 9PM, at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton. A memorial service will be at the New Maryland United Church on Thursday, June 6 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Kelly Burke officiating. Interment to take place in the adjoining cemetery.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the New Maryland United Church or New Maryland Lions Club.
