Obituary for Joan St. George

Joan St. George, (nee Tavares) passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in St John’s on June 5, 2019 at the age of 73. Joan was born in Paget, Bermuda on May 15, 1946, and married the love of her life on the same day in 1971. Together they had one daughter, Lori.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Manuel and Edith Tavares, and leaves to mourn her husband Eric; daughter Lori Singleton (Kevin); grandchildren Kaelie and Sawyer; brother Henry (Irene); brother–in–law Gerry (Sheila); sisters–in–law Judy Hanlon, Mary Sharpe and Lynn St. George, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A special thank you to her caregivers Aggie, Betty, Georgina, and Marilyn for whom the family will be eternally grateful for your loving care and support.

The family wishes to also acknowledge the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their care and compassion over the last two months.

Joan will be fondly remembered for her love of laughter, her passion for gardening and decorating, and the pride of being a loving grandmother to Kaelie and Sawyer.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 1 p.m. from Caul’s Chapel, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s, Newfoundland. At Joan’s wish, there was no Visitation.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL.
