Obituary for Marie Kilpatrick

Marie Gladys Kilpatrick of Hampton, NB, loving wife of the late Wilmot "Bill" Kilpatrick, passed away peacefully at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre in the presence of her family on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the age of 96. Born in Titusville, NB, on December 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Grace (Carson) Hanlon.

Marie was a very caring person who visited shut-ins and special care homes for many years. She was always very proud of her family. Marie worked at Zellers Limited in Saint John before she and Bill moved to Hampton in 1970. She was a lifetime member of the Hampton United Church, was active in the U.C.W. and also looked after the Nursery Class. Marie and her husband, Bill, enjoyed their lovely cottage in Upham as well as travelling. Many of their trips were with their good friends, the Friars.

Marie is survived by two daughters: Sharon McPherson of Hampton, NB, and Marcia Kilpatrick (Don Fawcett) of Riverview, NB; three grandchildren: Scott Souther (Stacy Hill) of Irishtown, NB, Shawn McPherson (Celeste) of Hampton, NB and Stacie McGarity (Paul Ryan) of Hampton, NB; three great-grandchildren: Devon McGarity, Haley McPherson and Wil McPherson; one sister, Shirley (Harold) Bettle; four sisters-in-law, Alice Hanlon, Ellen Hanlon, Barbara Fowler and Pauline Kincade; along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her son-in-law, Walter (Wally) McPherson; brothers: Glendon (Greta), Wilfred (Loretta), Lloyd and Gary; sisters: Eva (Rev. A. O.) MacLean and Greta (Willard) McGivery.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the dedicated caregivers at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre. The kindness and compassion shown towards Marie and her family will not be forgotten. Also, a special thank you to Ellen Hanlon, whose love and support were a gift to Marie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A Celebration of Marie’s life will take place at a later date, details to be announced.

Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com

“Our Mum and Dad were fortunate to enjoy a wonderful life together, always happy as long as they were with one another. Since our Dad’s passing in 2003, Mum has looked forward to being with her beloved Bill again and we rejoice that they are now together forever.”
