Obituary for Harry Niles

With sad and heavy hearts, the family of Harry A. Niles announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 7, 2019, surrounded by his family. Harry was born in Fredericton, N.B. on June 26, 1936, the son of Hazen And Viola (Myshrall) Niles).

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joey (Bishop), son Brad (Linda), daughter, Natalie Grant, grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Niles, Alex and Jenna Grant, sister–in–law, Laverne Legge, brother–in–law, Kevin–John (Victoria), God–daughter, Gena Fowler and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His family held a very special place in his heart and was an important part of his everyday life.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Joyce Morrisey, brother, Gerald, sister–in–law Rubye, and brothers–in–law Neddie, Eugene, and Paul.

He was a former teacher and later worked in the insurance industry for many years. In his youth he was a well known athlete when he played basketball, golf, curling and, especially baseball. He played baseball on several local, and other teams in N.B., as well as on The Milwaukee Braves farm team in Waycross, Georgia and Tampa, Florida. He also coached youth sports groups and refereed basketball games.

As per Harry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home and Crematorium. (339–6612. Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
