Obituary for Gillis Briand

1931-2019
Gillis Briand husband of Kathleen (McGovern) Briand, passed away Friday, June 7th, 2019 at the Foyer Notre Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst, following a brief illness, at the age of 88. Born in Douglastown, Qc, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Bourget) Briand.

Gillis was a retired Air Canada employee for over 31 years.

Besides his wife of Bathurst, he is survived by three children: Sharon Dimitroff (late Earl) of Beresford, Wendy Byar (Martin) and Kevin both of Edmonton, AB. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One brother: Graham (Lilles) of Calgary, AB. Several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 18th, 2019 at 2 p.m. from the Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Chapel, Bathurst.

Donations in memory of Gillis can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
