Obituary for John Hennessey

1971 - 2019
It is with such heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of John Leslie Hennessey, age 48, at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on January 17, 1971, John was the beloved son of the late Walter and Mary (Tobin) Hennessey.

John was a kind, easy going spirit with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved nature, sports, especially soccer and hockey (Philadelphia Flyers was his team). He enjoyed travelling and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit many other countries. He loved to cook, never afraid to experiment and try new things. John was bright, always up to date on current events and always up for the Jeopardy challenge.

John was extremely proud of his two sons, Philip, a bright Masters graduate of Literature, and his young son, Kieran, who was the apple of his eye. Whenever one ran into John, it was only a matter of minutes before he took out his phone and showed you pictures.

He will be sadly missed by his two sons: Philip of Ontario, Kieran and his mother Terri, both of Moncton; brothers and sisters: Beverly, Elizabeth (Mike), Walt (Jackie), Danny (Diane), Mary Clare (Aiden), Bill (Franca) and Michael; nieces and nephews: Scott, Lisa, Stephen, Steve, Shawn Patrick, Trevor, Lesley, Jenine, Maggie, Mario, Patrick, Juliana and Leah; cousins and friends.

A funeral service in John’s memory will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Saturday, June 15 at 11 am. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 9:30 am until time of funeral. A funeral mass will be celebrated at a later date in Kelligrews, Nfld, where John was born and raised.

In memory of John, a donation can be made to the Kieran Hennessey Trust Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Words of comfort and donations can be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com

John, we love you lots.
