Obituary for Kelly Innes

1980 – 2019

With heavy hearts the family of Kelly Lynn Innes, of Riverview, announce her passing at The Moncton Hospital on June 14, 2019 at the age of 39 after a long and courageous battle with melanoma.

She is survived by her parents Herbie and Elizabeth Innes of Riverview, precious daughter Aspen, sister Wendy MacIsaac (Dallas) of Calgary, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Harold and Bessie Simmonds, paternal grandparents Jack and Elsie Innes of Miramichi, NB.

She was very involved with Moncton Air Cadets 101 Squaredon in her youth where she developed her love of flying. She became a glider pilot and later went on to attain her private pilot license for single engine airplanes at MFC. While with cadets she was introduced to the sport of biathlon first as a participant and later as a coach. She was the coach of the NB girls’ team at the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Charlo NB. When she moved to Canmore, AB, she fell in love with the rocky mountains and outdoor pursuits especially snowboarding in the winter. She loved gardening and was so proud of the harvest she was able to get from her small vegetable garden. She was a huge fan of the Beatles and had a large collection of their memorabilia.

She had a zest for life and with her outgoing personality, kind heart, and ever-present smile she easily made new and lasting friendships wherever she lived. Of all the accomplishments in her short life the greatest was being a wonderful mother to her young daughter Aspen.

The family would like to thank her team of doctors, Abdelsalam, Charest, Crozier, Robertson, the nursing staff of 4200 unit The Moncton Hospital, and the compassionate dedicated staff at the Dr. Sheldon Rubin Oncology Clinic.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Monday from 6-8pm. A service celebrating Kelly’s life will take place at Cobb’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 11:00am with Rev. Gordon MacLeod officiating assisted by Rev. Carolyn King. Donations can be made in Kelly’s memory to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital (Oncology Department) or The Humanity Project. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
